RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the attached Resolution appointing election
judges and officials for the 2022 Elections
BACKGROUND
Minn. Stat. 204B.21, Subd. 2, requires that all cities appoint election judges at least 25 days before
the election. Staff has recruited approximately 75 Rosemount and/or Dakota County residents to
serve as election judges for the 2022 general election.
The individuals listed in the resolution have indicated their willingness to serve at the upcoming
election. In order to serve as a judge, the law requires regular judges to complete a minimum of two
hours of training, head election judges to complete a minimum of three hours training, and election
judges serving on the Absentee Ballot Board to complete training regarding the handling and
processing of absentee ballots.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the above-referenced motion.

RESOLUTION 2022-XX
RESOLUTION APPOINTING ELECTION JUDGES
FOR 2022 ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 204B.21 requires the governing body of a municipality to
appoint election judges to serve in its precincts; and
WHEREAS, the Rosemount 2022 Election Judge appointments consists of individuals recommended
by the City Clerk with the approval of the majority of the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the general public listed below to serve as election
judges reside in in the State of Minnesota as required by Minnesota Election Laws and will be trained
according to Minnesota State Statutes:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that pursuant to Minn. Stat.
203B.21, additional judges may be appointed within 25 days of the election if it is determined
additional election judges will be required.
ADOPTED this 4th day of October, 2022 by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
