RECOMMENDED ACTION: Receive update from design team and discuss next steps
BACKGROUND
The schematic design phase of the Public Works & Police Campus project is nearing completion, and the
project team is prepared to give an update to the City Council on the design and general features of the
building. A significant amount of focus of this phase of the project has been the cost of the project.
Based on Council direction received in June, the “Better +” option is being pursued, which will be in the
range of $55-$58 million. More refinement of that number will occur in the coming months.
The next step in the process is design development, which will allow specific staff from each department
an opportunity to help envision the specialized needs of each work division. This phase will also allow
refinement of the project budget based on exact design and construction features that are being utilized.
Once a more specific cost estimate is known, we will present financial impact scenarios to the Council for
their information.
RECOMMENDATION
No action needed. Receive the update from staff and consultants and discuss next steps.
