DISCUSSION
The Environment and Sustainability Commission (ESC) developed an Education & Outreach Calendar for
2022. It is a working document that will be updated as the year progresses. Some outreach items will be
assigned to specific commissioners for completion, such as some of the blog posts. The intent of this item
is to review the calendar for updates and share ideas. Highlights are below:
1. September 8 blog post – fall yard waste and pollinators
2. October 4 blog post: We Are Water MN by VRWJPO
3. November blog post ideas:
a. Switching to solar or wind
b. Energy audits
4. Holidays/events of note
a. October – National Energy Awareness Month

b. October 13 to December 5 – We Are Water MN traveling exhibit in Dakota County
c. October through December – PiE 50 free Home Energy Squad Energy Saver visits give
away to residents that are Xcel customers at events
d. November 4 to 6 – Pumpkin recycling at Central Park
e. November 11 – Veterans’ Day
f. November 15 – America Recycles Day
g. November 17 – Night on the Town
h. November 24 – Thanksgiving
i. November or December – Steeple Center Tree lighting
