RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve Change Order #1 for the Bella Vista
Greenway Trail Project
BACKGROUND
In April of 2022, the City Council awarded a bid for the Bella Vista Greenway Trail project. The project is
coming to the end but during recent construction of the project a few changes have been needed. This has
resulted in a project change order being submitted by SRF Inc. Staff is requesting the City Council
consider approving change order #1, which is detailed below.
The total amount of change order #1 is $51,600. The changes to the project came as a result of a few
different items. The first item was a pond outlet control structure that encroached into the trail alignment
which we decided should be moved for the safety of the trail users and integrity of the trail. There was also
an issue with a manhole that was in the trail alignment due to the trail being moved to avoid a pipeline.
The last challenges we ran into were elevation issues with crossing a pipeline and the additional potholing
that was required due to a recently installed roadway on the east edge of the project.
As you may recall, the City entered into a Joint Powers Agreement with Dakota County to have them pay
for the construction of the regional trail. The cost of change order #1 will passed on to the County as part
their funding of the project.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending the City Council approve Change Order #1 for the Bella Vista Greenway Trail
Project.
