RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve Change Orders 1 - 5 for the Flint Hills Trail
Head/Park Building project.
BACKGROUND
In March of 2022, the City Council awarded a bid for the Flint Hills Trail Head/Park Building project in
the amount of $1,305,000. The project is coming to the end but during construction of the project some
changes have been needed. This has resulted in the project change order being submitted by our design
Architect and Construction Manager with ISG. Staff is requesting the City Council consider approving
change orders 1 - 5, which are detailed below.
Change Order 1 Change Coiling Door to an insulated model $ 8,778.00
Change Order 2 Storm Sewer Clean Out – encountered several obstructions $ 3,943.50
Change Order 3 Switch Fascia System from 2 x 8 to a 2 x 10 $ 1,004.52
Change Order 4 Change in Bathroom Partitions $ 3,192.21
Change Order 5* Addition of Project Taxes $23,354.29
*When the project was bid it was incorrectly listed as a tax exempt project. The contractor is required to
pay tax on the materials purchased for the project and those costs are passed onto the City. Change order
5 does not have an impact as to the contractor (TMG ) being the low bidder for the project.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending the City Council approve Change Orders 1 – 5 for the Flint Hills Trail Head/Park
Building Project.
