ATTACHMENTS: Election Results Abstract APPROVED BY: LJM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to declare Tammy Block, Paul Essler and Jeff Weisensel winners of the November 8, 2022 City of Rosemount General Election BACKGROUND Minnesota Statute 205.185 Subd. 3 requires the governing body of a city to certify its election results between the third and tenth day after an election. An abstract including the return information of the November 8, 2022 General Election has been provided to use for declaring the official results. “Early Voting” to refer to the period between November 1st and November 7th, when an absentee voter can place their ballot directly into a ballot counter. Absentee Voting (voting by mail) began September 23rd. Overall, absentee and early voters accounted for about 22% of all ballots cast. 60.6% 71% Minnesota (estimated) Rosemount 2022 Voter Turnout (MN vs. Rosemount) 2018 2020 2022 Total Number of Person Registered at 7 am 14,923 16,652 17,486 New Registrations 833 1,191 641 Total Voting 12,132 15,869 12,860 Voter Turnout 77% 82% 71% The winners of the local races are; Council Members – Tammy Block (5,872 votes) and Paul Essler (7,436 votes) Mayor – Jeff Weisensel (6,559 votes). RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends a motion to declare Tammy Block, Paul Essler and Jeff Weisensel winners of the November 8, 2022 City of Rosemount General Election.
