EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Kyle Manley has performed an important service to the community through his work to help establish a
disc golf course hi Rosemount. That work enabled him to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, and it has earned
the thanks of the City of Rosemount.
Kyle is a sophomore at Rosemount High School, and has been involved in scouting for eight years. To
achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, he had to earn 21 ment badges before his 18 birthday. Kyle has
completed the job with two years to spare
Kyle's project with the City was to build and install tee markers for the new disc golf course planned for
the site of the old Brockway golf course Kyle got Dakota Fence to donate the cedar 6 -by -6 posts he used
to make tee markers. He cut the posts and used a router to engrave hole numbers on each of them Kyle
and his crew used post -hole diggers to install the markers at each tee. They also installed recycled plastic
umbers flush with the ground as stop plates, something like a foul hne on a lane at the bowling alley. The
plates indicate where golfers are to be positioned while teeing off. The Parks and Recreation Department
expects that sometime this spring parking space will be ready, the disc goals will be installed, and the
course will open for regular use giving the public a chance to appreciate Kyle's work.
The Eagle Scout rank is the highest advancement rank in scoutmg, and to achieve it a Boy Scout must
fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. The Boy Scouts of America
National Council says only four percent of the membership achieves this high goal.
In a profile published in the Pioneer Press, Kyle said he mtends to pursue interests in protecting the
environment, but expects to have a career performing and teaching music. And he plans to remain active
in scouting, serving as an adult leader
In the wotds of the Parks and Recreation staff who worked with him, "Kyle and his crew did a very nice
job It was fun getting to know Kyle and working with hum He is hard working and very enthusiastic.
He should be very proud of his scouting achievements and the work he did for Rosemount at the disc
course. Those of us that worked with Kyle extend our gratitude and congratulations to him"
