CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 3:50 p.m. at the Rosemount Community Center, 13885 South Robert Trail, Banquet Room. Vice Chair Thiagarajan called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Alex, Bartz, Buck, N. Burman, Essler, Favre, Fulsaas, Harvey, Jacobson, Knutson, C. Lovin, H. Lovin, E. Lovin, Meyers, Mohanty, Pemberton, Pitzen, Reed, Rhoades, D. State, P. State, and Thomas were present. Assistant City Administrator Emmy Foster, Council Member Jeff Weisensel, and Recording Secretary Jessie Paque were also present. Commissioners J. Burman, Kenninger, Kuseske, Maskel, and Narloch were absent. Commissioners N. Burman and Rhoades left during item 4 – Consent Agenda. 2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Motion by Thiagarajan. Second by Pemberton. Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 23 Nays: 0 Absent: 5. Motion carried. 3. AUDIENCE INPUT None 4. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Thiagarajan. Second by Buck. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Ayes: 23 Nays: 0 Absent: 5. Motion carried. 5. OLD BUSINESS None 6. NEW BUSINESS a. Introductions Commissioners went around the room and introduced themselves to new and departing commissioners. b. Review of By-Laws Council Member Weisensel discussed the bylaws with the group and emphasized the attendance expectation and that three absences were allowed. Weisensel also explained the roles of each of the Officers to the Youth Commissioners. c. Election of Officers Discussion An election was held based on self-nominations, and the following members were elected for the 2022-2023 term. i. Chairperson – Thatcher Buck Motion by Thiagarajan. Second by Buck. Motion to elect Thatcher Buck as Chairperson. Ayes: 21 Nays: 0 Absent: 7. Motion carried. ii. First Vice Chair – Ainsley Bartz Motion by Thiagarajan. Second by Reed. Motion to elect Ainsley Bartz as First Vice Chair. Ayes: 21 Nays: 0 Absent: 7. Motion carried. iii. Second Vice Chair – Julia Alex Motion by Thiagarajan. Second by Mohanty. Motion to elect Julia Alex as Second Vice Chair. Ayes: 21 Nays: 0 Absent: 7. Motion carried. d. Upcoming Events Examples of events that Youth Commissioners participate in were discussed. Events will be shared with Youth Commissioners as they are known. e. Calendar of Meeting Dates – this was included in the meeting packet. f. Words of Wisdom from Outgoing Members Departing commissioners shared with the new members what they enjoyed most about being on the commission. Commissioners also shared advice for the commission as it moves forward. g. Roundtable Discussion Youth Commission members shared their Memorial Day weekend plans, summer plans, college plans, and upcoming graduations. Council Member Weisensel announced he will be running for Mayor and hopes to continue working with the Youth Commission. 7. REPORTS a. Commission Member Reports None b. Next Meeting Date – June 22, 2022 at 3:45 p.m. at the Steeple Center, Room 202, 14375 South Robert Trail. Youth Commissioners will be tie-dyeing new commission shirts to wear at events throughout the year. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Thiagarajan and seconded by Reed that the meeting be adjourned.
