ISSUE
The long term Parks Maintenance Capital Improvement Plan includes funding for the replacement of the
playground equipment at Biscayne, Claret and Kidder parks. The existing play equipment is scheduled to
be removed in the spring of 2023 and the new equipment would be installed soon after the planned
removals. On Thursday, January 19, staff held a neighborhood meeting for people living near Biscayne and
Claret parks and shared the proposals that we received for the two sites. The Youth Commission will be
reviewing the proposals for both sites at their meeting on January 25th. Staff expects that the playground
equipment projects will be reviewed and approved by the City Council on February 7, 2023.
The Kidder Park project will be taking the same course through the review process but will be following a
few weeks later than the Biscayne and Claret park projects.
BACKGROUND
An RFP was sent out for the two park projects. Listed below was the cost caps for each of the projects:
Biscayne $60,000
Claret $55,000
SUMMARY
The Parks and Recreation Commission will review the playground submittals and make recommendations
for the equipment to purchase for Biscayne and Claret Parks.
