CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 3:47 p.m. at the Steeple Center, Room 202, 14375 South Robert Trail, Rosemount. Commission Chair Buck called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioner Burman, Essler, Harvey, Knutson, C. Lovin, H. Lovin, Narloch and State were present. Assistant City Administrator Emmy Foster, Parks and Recreation Director Dan Schultz, and Recording Secretary Jessie Paque were also present. Mayor Weisensel and Commissioners Alex, Bartz, Favre, Jacobson, Mohanty, Pitzen, Reed, Rhoades, and Thomas were absent. 2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Motion by Buck. Second by Harvey. Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 9. Nays: 0 Absent: 9. Motion carried. 3. AUDIENCE INPUT None 4. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Buck. Second by H. Lovin. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Ayes: 9. Nays: 0 Absent: 9. Motion carried. 5. OLD BUSINESS None 6. NEW BUSINESS a. Parks & Recreation Department– Parks & Recreation Director Dan Schultz Parks and Recreation Director Schultz discussed new playground proposals at two parks within the City. The playgrounds that were discussed were at Claret Park and Biscayne Park; the old equipment will be removed and replaced with new structures. Commissioners reviewed and voted on which playground proposals they’d prefer to see at each of the parks. Mr. Schultz will be bringing the recommendations of the Youth Commission and the Park Commission to a City Council meeting in February. In addition, he will be back at the February meeting to have commissioners vote on Kidder Park playground proposals. b. Leadership Lesson Assistant City Administrator Foster lead discussion on leadership reflections. Commissioners shared ideas on how to improve creativity and overcoming fears. c. Roundtable Discussion Youth Commission members shared their school year updates and activities. 7. REPORTS a. Commission Member Reports Assistant City Administrator Foster asked if there would be interest in forming a sub-committee for Summer Employment Recruitment with the City of Rosemount. The City has great summer time job opportunities in both the Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments to share with students. Volunteers would help coordinate and host a table at Rosemount High School to promote summer employment opportunities. Commissioners Buck and Harvey volunteered to form the subcommittee and work with staff at RHS to determine if this a viable option. b. Next Meeting Date – February 22, 2023 at 3:45 p.m. at the Steeple Center, Room 202. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Buck and seconded by C.
