ISSUE
The long term Parks Maintenance Capital Improvement Plan includes funding for the replacement of the
playground equipment at Kidder Park. The existing play equipment is scheduled to be removed in the
spring of 2023 and the new equipment would be installed soon after the planned removal.
Residents living in the area near Kidder Park were sent a post card with a link to a project page on the City
website where they could comment on the playground proposals. On Thursday, February 23, a
neighborhood meeting was cancelled due to weather. The Youth Commission were emailed the
playground designs and asked to vote for their favorite because their monthly meeting was also cancelled
due to weather. Staff expects that the playground equipment projects will be reviewed and approved by the
City Council on March 7, 2023.
BACKGROUND
An RFP was sent out for the Kidder park project. The project was budgeted for $60,000.
SUMMARY
The Parks and Recreation Commission will review the playground submittals and make a recommendation
for the equipment to purchase for Kidder Park Park.
