RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to purchase playground equipment for Kidder Park
from Webber Recreation/Miracle.
BACKGROUND
The long-term Parks Maintenance Capital Improvement Plan includes funding for the replacement of the
playground equipment at Kidder Park. The existing play equipment was installed in 2000 and is scheduled
to be removed in the fall of 2023 and the new equipment would be installed soon after the planned
removal.
Residents living in the area near Kidder Park were sent a post card with a link to a project page on the City
website where they could comment on the playground proposals. On Thursday, February 23, a
neighborhood meeting was cancelled due to weather. The Youth Commission was emailed the playground
designs and asked to vote for their favorite because their monthly meeting was also cancelled due to
weather. The Parks and Recreation Commission also has reviewed the equipment proposals and have
provided input.
A Request for Proposal was sent out for the Kidder park playground project. The project was budgeted
for $60,000.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is recommending the City Council approves the purchase of playground equipment for Kidder
Park from Webber Recreation/Miracle.
