January 18, 2023 Evironment and Sustainability Commission Meeting Minutes ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES January 18, 2023 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the meeting of the Environment & Sustainability Commission (ESC) of the City of Rosemount was called to order on January 18, 2023, at 5:35 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount. Attendees included: Commission Chair Victoria Schlautman, Commissioners Eric Johnson, Renee Burman, Kristen Andrews, Erin Delaney, and Neal Shoe. Commissioner Tina Angerer was absent. Staff present included the following; City Engineer Erickson and Stormwater Specialist Byron ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.a. Motion by Delaney Second by Shoe Motion to approve the minutes of the December 13, 2022 Environment and Sustainability Commission meeting. Ayes: 6. Nays: None. Motion carried. PRESENTATIONS None. OLD BUSINESS 5.a. 2022 Goals Updates Commissioners will continue to update their assigned 2022 goals on a shared document/drive for the ESC. 5.b. Near Term Education & Outreach Commissioners discussed ideas for upcoming blog posts for February, March, and April. Commissioners also discussed items and information to have on hand for the ESC booth at the Rosemount Home & Business held in March. 5.c. Land Acknowledgment Commissioner Delaney presented the land acknowledgement draft for review and consideration. The commission expressed positive feedback and hope that more can be done in the future to repair ties with our community. Motion by Johnson Second by Schlautman Motion to recommend City Council adopts the land acknowledgement language as presented. Ayes: 6. Nays: None. Motion carried. ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES January 18, 2023 NEW BUSINESS 6.a. 2023 Education & Outreach Calendar Commissioner Johnson suggested changes to how blog posts are formatted to align with current reader environment. Commissioners discussed and agreed to the changes. The February and March blog posts were previously assigned. 6.b. 2023 Goals Development Commissioners discussed drafting updates to their assigned goals and scheduling a work session to discuss and review. Motion by Schlautman Second by Shoe Motion to schedule a Work Session Meeting of the ESC for Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room, City Hall, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount to review and discuss the 2023 Goals Development of the ESC. Ayes: 6. Nays: None. Motion carried. 6.c. City Council Update Commissioner Schlautman will put together information for presentation to City Council and provide to Vice-Chair Angerer. Commissioner Johnson also volunteered to help present updates of the ESC to City Council. Stormwater Specialist Byron noted that the City Council work sessions in February and March are not available and will confirm with the City Clerk that the April work session is available. 6.d. Set Meeting Dates for 2023-2024 Motion by Schlautman Second by Johnson Motion to adopt the proposed 2023-2024 Environment & Sustainability Commission meeting schedule as presented. Ayes: 6. Nays: None. Motion carried. ANNOUNCEMENTS Commission Chair Victoria Schlautman announced that this meeting will be her last meeting with the ESC as she is resigning. Commissioner Burman thanked Commissioner Schlautman for her service with the ESC. STAFF REPORT 8.a. Set Next Meeting Agenda for February 2023 i. Review presentation of Commission Updates to City Council ii. Review plans for the Home & Business Expo iii.
