HomeMy WebLinkAbout20230110 Work Session ProceedingsROSEMOUNT CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION PROCEEDINGS JANUARY 10, 2023 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a work session of the Rosemount City Council was held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 5:00 pm at Rosemount City Hall, Council Chambers, 2875 145th Street West. Mayor-Elect Weisensel called the meeting to order with Councilmember Freske. Councilmember Essler arrived at 5:09 p.m. DISCUSSION 2.a. Annual Update with Dakota County Transportation Department & County Commissioners Dakota County Engineer Erin Laberee and Assistant County Engineer Jake Chapek along with County Commissioners Droste and Hamann-Roland attended the Council work session to provide an update on direction of County transportation initiatives and projects; i.e. Diamond Path Roundabout, Grade Separation at TH 3 and CSAH 42, CSAH 46 expansion and Trunk Highway Studies at TH 55/52/42 and TH 3 from CSAH 42 to 494. Councilmember Freske requested for a traffic study to be completed at Connemara Trail and Akron Avenue due to the upcoming development and Council requested staff evaluate the intersection at Bonaire Path and Akron Avenue as it is becoming a safety concern, i.e. add lighting or flashing stop sign. General conversation focused around the pace of development at Akron and 42 and the County’s plans to assist the City in mitigating those impacts. 2.b. Technology Task Force Discussion GIS Supervisor Aaron Menza requested feedback and direction on the future of the Technology Task Force. Menza highlighted the accomplishments thus far. Councilmembers discussed disbanding the task force and instead create an ad-hoc group of citizens who would be willing to assist the city with evaluating its technology needs on an as-needed basis. UPDATES 4.a. Project Updates i. Community Development City Administrator Martin provided an update on upcoming Planning Commission items. ii. Administration Councilmember Essler shared a recent discussion he had with Advocates for Health, an organization which provides public access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The item will be discussed at a future meeting to further discuss the funding, location of placing these AEDs through the City and sponsorship. 5.a. Staff Reports i. Upcoming Council Events Staff and council discussed upcoming council events. The council assignments will be on the January 17th council agenda.
