The current term is expiring, and according to Fire Department policy, the Secretary is to be selected from applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the position. Ultimately, Jim was the sole applicant for the position. He has served on the Fire Department for fourteen years with the last seven years as a Lieutenant/EMT. Bruce Sword served in this position for the past decade and has offered to assist with the transition of duties to Jim. Jim is well qualified for this position and it is thereby recommended that his assignment to the position of Fire Secretary be confirmed by the Council this evening. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that Council approve the Appointment of James Olinger as Fire Secretary for a period of three years.
