REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS
June 28, 2023
1. CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was
held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 3:48 p.m. at the Steeple Center, Room 202, 14375 South Robert
Trail, Rosemount.
Commission Chair Alex called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Burman, Favre,
Leppones, C. Lovin, H. Lovin, Johnson, Knutson, Pitzen and Raimondo present. Assistant City
Administrator Emmy Foster, Mayor Jeff Weisensel, and Recording Secretary Anne Hayes were also
present. Commissioners K. Addagudi, S. Addagudi, Cassell, Noman Haque, Norah Haque, Harvey and
State were absent.
2. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
Motion by Alex. Second by Knutson.
Motion to Adopt the Agenda.
Ayes: 10
Nays: 0 Absent: 7. Motion carried.
3. AUDIENCE INPUT
None
4. CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Alex. Second by C. Lovin.
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda.
Ayes: 10
Nays: 0 Absent: 7. Motion carried.
5. OLD BUSINESS
None
6. NEW BUSINESS
a. Discussion of Interests, Topics, Tours & Speakers.
Assistant City Administrator Foster introduced a variety of options for Youth Commission to
experience in the upcoming year, including: RAAC, Police Department, Public Works Facility,
Community Development, Parks & Recreation, Robert Trail Library, Family Resource
Center/360 Communities, Fire Station, Community Center/Ice Arena, Water Towers, State

Capitol, 911 Call Center, and City Hall. Commissioners were asked to rank or indicate which
items were of most interest to them and return the list to her.
b. Upcoming Events in July and August.
Splash Pad Summer Celebration, Leprechaun Days Booth, Leprechaun Days Parade, Night to
Unite are all occurring in the next few months. More information and reminders will be emailed
to the commissioners as the events get closer.
c. Leadership Lesson Overview.
Will begin with August meeting, Mayor Weisensel is looking for an example of leadership by
someone younger than 18 years of age. Each Commissioner is to bring an example to share.
d. Roundtable Discussion
Youth Commission members shared updates on performances, sports, summer jobs, vacations
and college visits.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Alex and seconded by H. Lovin that the
meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously, and the meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Discussion Item Only.
BACKGROUND
At the June 28, 2023 Youth Commission meeting, the group took a survey on a variety of interests,
tour locations, and speakers to experience this upcoming year. Commissioners will review the results
and discuss as a group.
City staff will look into coordinating these tours throughout 2023-2024. Youth Commissioners are
encouraged to reach out to staff or the Mayor on any additional tour locations.

While coordinating tours, guest speakers will be invited to present to the commission. Additional
speakers were requested, such as councilmembers and other community representatives, such as Erin
Maye Quade.
