Call to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Youth Commission was held on
Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 3:45 PM. in Room 202 at Steeple Center; 14375 South Robert
Trail.
Chairperson Knutson called the meeting to order with Commissioners Amante, Born, Buehler,
Favre, Geller, Giray, Harvey, Jacob, Metzger, M. Raimondo, R. Raimondo, and Sell.
Staff present included the following; Deputy Clerk Ostroviak.

a. Speakers; Rosemount Investigation Sergeant Alex Eckstein, and Detectives Murphy and
Wubben

Investigators Eckstein, Wubbel and Murphy of the Rosemount Investigation Unit spoke
to Commissioners about their journey into their profession, their day-to-day
operations, along with the investigative procedures enforced by the Rosemount Police
Department. They commented on the importance of mental health, safety and
compassion in their profession. At the end of the presentation, Commissioners were
able to ask questions.
b. Leadership Lesson Overview
Youth Commissioners were encouraged to think about a young person (under 18) in
their lives that displays leadership skills. They will be discussing that person and their
impact with the group at our August session.
c. Discussion of Interests; Topics, Tours, & Speakers
Deputy Clerk Ostroviak passed out a checklist for Commissioners to check what items
are of interest to them, along with any additional suggestions they may have. The data
will be used for planning the 2024-2025 speakers and tours.
d. Upcoming Events for July & August
Deputy Clerk Ostroviak reminded Commissioners to sign up for the July Splash Pad
event and Leprechaun Days booth and parade event. A verbal reminder to mark their
calendar for Night to Unite on August 6, 2024 as well.
e. Roundtable Discussion
Youth Commissioners each took a turn telling the group what they have been doing to
stay busy this summer, and any upcoming vacations or events they'd like to share.

There being no further business to come before the Youth Commission at the regular
meeting and upon a motion by Knutson and a second by Favre the meeting was
adjourned at 4:41 p.m.

At the June session, Youth Commissioners took a poll on what tours and presenters they'd like to see
in the 2024-2025 year. Commissioners will review the poll results and discuss as a group, along with
Mayor Weisensel.

Youth Commissioners will discuss with Mayor Weisensel an example of leadership shown by someone
younger than 18 years of age. Commissioners can relay what that leadership looks like in others and
how that can influence their lives.
