YOUTH COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS
MARCH 19, 2025
Call to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Youth Commission was held on
Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 3:45 PM. Steeple Center.
Chairperson Pitzen called the meeting to order with Commissioners Buehler, Carter, Favre,
Geller, Kebede, Mason, Metzger, R. Raimondo and Sell.
Commissioners Absent were Amante, Born, Giray, Harvey, Jacob, Knutson, Marchese, and M.
Raimondo.
Staff present included the following; Mayor Weisensel, Symone Hubbard & Sarah Saunders.

a. Minutes of February 26, 2025, Youth Commission Meeting

a. Recruitment Strategies with Symone Hubbard; Communications Specialist
Commissioners collaborated and expressed their ideas to Symone Hubbard about recruitment. Some of
the ideas were creating a hashtag for social media, getting quotes and video clips of seniors, utilizing the
Irish Update broadcast and setting a table up during the lunches (3) to promote participation -
Commissioners would be present to answer questions, etc.
b. Leadership Lesson; Ethical Leaders

Mayor Weisensel led Youth Commissioners through the Leadership Lesson; Ethical Leaders. The group
discussion regarded what an ethical leader looks like and what ethical dilemmas they've experienced.
Mr. Weisensel asked students who they interviewed for the assignment, what ethical characteristics
they discovered, and chose what characteristics from Dr. Shapiro's list they see most in themselves.
c. Roundtable Discussion
Commissioners spoke about their Spring Break plans for the week of March 24-28, 2025.

Deputy Clerk Saunders reminded Commissioners about many events happening in April that they need
to add to their calendars.
c. Next Youth Commission Meeting Date - April 23, 2025; Fire Station No. 1
There being no further business to come before the Youth Commission at the regular meeting and upon
a motion by Favre and a second by Geller the meeting was adjourned at 4:47 p.m.

BACKGROUND
Fire Chief Kip Springer will introduce himself and talk about his role with the City of Rosemount Fire
Department as the full-time Fire Chief. He will lead the commissioners in hands-on activities such as a
timed fire gear drill and exploring the technology that is used, like thermal imaging cameras and
extrication tools at Fire Station No. 1.

BACKGROUND
City of Rosemount Park & Rec spokesperson will attend the regular meeting to discuss a proposal for
playground equipment at Dallara Park. There will be a short presentation about the park and then
commissioners will be asked to vote for the playground setup they are in favor of.

Legacy Tree Planting will take place on May 28, 2025 - 3:00PM, Birch Park; 2181 Birch Street,

Following the tree planting, the Youth Commission regular meeting and Class of 2025 send-off will take
place at 3:45-4:45PM at that same location (Birch Park; 2181 Birch Street, Rosemount).
